The successful candidate will act as the link between engineering, production and quality teams on all welding matters. That includes managing welding procedures and welder qualifications, planning welding activity, and making sure inspection and testing requirements are met and recorded. You will be expected to spot issues early, resolve non-conformances and keep documentation in order. The organisation needs someone who can take on live work quickly and contribute from the start of the assignment. You will work alongside colleagues in engineering, fabrication and quality, supporting delivery to programme while maintaining the standard of the finished product.

Main responsibilities

  • Coordinate welding activities across the project or workshop, in line with drawings, specifications and programme
  • Review and manage welding procedure specifications (WPS), procedure qualification records (WPQR) and welder qualifications
  • Make sure welding is carried out in accordance with the relevant codes and standards, such as ISO 3834 and EN ISO 15614
  • Plan and schedule welding work, including consumables, equipment and welder allocation
  • Coordinate non-destructive testing (NDT) and inspection activity, and review results
  • Raise, investigate and close out non-conformances and corrective actions relating to welding
  • Maintain accurate weld records, traceability and quality documentation, including data books and welding maps
  • Liaise with engineering, production, quality and, where required, client and third-party inspectors
  • Promote safe working practices and make sure welding activity complies with health and safety requirements

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a welding coordination, welding supervision or similar welding quality role
  • Sound knowledge of welding processes, procedures and applicable standards
  • Understanding of welder qualification, weld inspection and NDT methods
  • Experience of reading and interpreting engineering drawings and weld symbols
  • Strong record keeping and documentation skills
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to work across engineering, production and quality teams
  • Ability to prioritise a busy workload and work to programme deadlines
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Able to work from the Croydon location

The offer

This is a contract position based in Croydon. Rate, start date and duration are to be confirmed with candidates.
