We are currently recruiting a Regulatory Support Officer to support food safety, health and safety, and public health activities within a busy local authority team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in food, catering, hospitality, or regulatory services who is keen to develop their skills within environmental health.

This role offers flexible working hours and the chance to gain hands-on experience across a wide range of regulatory functions while working alongside experienced professionals in a supportive environment.

The Role

As a Regulatory Support Officer, you will support the delivery of regulatory services, helping to protect public health and maintain food and safety standards across the district. Key responsibilities include:

  • Responding to service requests relating to food safety, health and safety, and public health
  • Assisting with and carrying out enforcement activities, including inspections, revisits, and advisory visits
  • Supporting officers with regulatory and compliance work across the service

About You

We are keen to hear from candidates who may have experience in:

  • Catering, food service, hospitality, or environmental health support roles
  • Food safety or health and safety compliance environments

You’ll also demonstrate:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge or practical experience of food and health & safety legislation
  • A self-motivated, organised approach to work
  • The ability to interpret legislation and guidance into practical actions
  • A genuine interest in food safety, public health, or regulatory compliance

Working Arrangements

  • 6-month contract
  • 37 hours per week or part-time considered
  • After induction, you will be required to be office-based or district-based approximately 2 days per week, with home working available the remainder of the time
  • Ability to travel within the district is required
