Freelance Quantity Surveyor – Refurbishment & Planned Works
Location: Milton Keynes area
Rate: 400 per day
Contract: Interim / Freelance
The Opportunity
An established construction contractor is seeking an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support a varied portfolio of refurbishment and improvement projects.
Working across multiple schemes, you will provide commercial and procurement support from initial assessment and cost planning through to subcontractor procurement and ongoing cost control.
The workload will include a mixture of building improvement, external refurbishment and property upgrade packages.
Key Responsibilities

Reviewing project requirements and undertaking initial site assessments.

Assisting with cost planning, package pricing and procurement strategies.

Preparing and maintaining procurement trackers and commercial schedules.

Obtaining, reviewing and negotiating subcontractor and supplier quotations.

Comparing tenders and identifying commercial opportunities and risks.

Supporting subcontractor appointment and package procurement.

Preparing and updating cost reports and CVRs.

Monitoring expenditure, forecasting final costs and reporting variances.

Liaising with operational teams, subcontractors and suppliers to maintain commercial control across multiple projects.
- About You

Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, refurbishment or property improvement.

Strong procurement experience, including subcontractor enquiries and tender analysis.

Confident managing costs, forecasting expenditure and maintaining commercial reports.

Experience working across multiple projects or work packages simultaneously.

Able to work independently in a fast-paced contracting environment.

Strong communication, negotiation and commercial problem-solving skills.
Experience with external building works, residential refurbishment or wider property improvement programmes would be advantageous.
