A well-established commercial organisation based in Liverpool is seeking an Interim Management Accountant to join its finance team during a busy period of delivery and operational demand. With a strong emphasis on high-quality management information, commercial insight, and finance partnering, the business is looking for a hands-on management accountant who can quickly embed into the team and support decision-making across the organisation. This is a 6-month interim assignment, operating 4 days per week on-site.

Your new role:

  • Preparing and presenting monthly management accounts with clear commentary and insight
  • Delivering detailed variance analysis against budget and forecast, identifying risks and opportunities
  • Supporting budgeting and forecasting cycles, working with stakeholders to gather and challenge inputs
  • Providing commercial insight to non-finance teams, helping them understand performance drivers
  • Monitoring KPIs and financial metrics to support operational decision-making
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Supporting senior management with ad-hoc reporting and analysis
  • Ensuring adherence to internal controls, accounting standards, and finance policies
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within finance

What you'll need to succeed:

You will be a fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) with proven experience in a management accounting role within a commercial environment. Strong Excel skills are essential, alongside hands-on experience producing management accounts, budgets, and forecasts. You should be comfortable business partnering with non-finance stakeholders, working autonomously, and adapting quickly in a fast-paced environment.
