The role provides legal support across the council's commercial and procurement activity, advising internal clients on the drafting, negotiation and management of a range of contracts.
You will work closely with service departments, procurement colleagues and senior officers, giving clear and practical advice on contractual risk, procurement compliance and the legal framework that applies to public sector contracting. The workload is likely to include a mix of new contracts, variations, renewals and disputes arising from existing arrangements.
The role suits a lawyer who is comfortable running their own matters, working to deadlines and explaining legal points to non-lawyers. Experience of contracting in a public sector setting will help you settle in quickly.
