About the role
Vivid are working with a London Borough Council that is looking for an experienced Senior Contracts & Procurement Lawyer to join its legal team on a 3-month locum basis. The council needs an additional senior legal resource to support its commercial and procurement workload.
The role will focus on high-value and complex commercial and procurement matters. You will advise the council on contracts, procurement exercises and related legal issues, working with colleagues across the organisation to make sure the council’s commercial activity is well structured, compliant and properly documented.
The successful candidate will have a strong local authority contracts and procurement background and be comfortable handling complex matters with a high degree of autonomy. As the role is offered on a short-term basis, availability at short notice is important, along with previous experience of working remotely.
Main responsibilities
- Advise the council on high-value and complex commercial contracts and procurement matters
- Provide legal support on procurement exercises from planning through to award and contract
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts and related commercial documentation
- Advise on related legal issues arising from the council’s commercial and procurement activity
- Work with the wider legal team and internal stakeholders to deliver clear, practical advice
- Manage a varied caseload of matters efficiently across the length of the engagement
Requirements
