Key Tasks & Responsibilities: Oversee the advertising and allocation of properties. Responsible for categorising housing register applications. Verify applicant\’s eligibility for housing, including investigating fraud, child residency, and home ownership. Identify appropriate adapted properties for individuals needing specific changes or adaptations to their current home. Arrange multiple property viewings. Interview applicants in their homes or elsewhere to assess housing needs and refer cases of suspected neglect or environmental health issues. Conduct assessments on properties. Stay informed about alternative housing options. Manage a caseload, focusing on clients with complex needs, particularly vulnerable individuals. Maintain accurate records to ensure proper audit trails for each case. Investigate and resolve complaints and appeals. Assist in preparing court papers when necessary. Foster effective working relationships with other teams. Safeguard the authority\’s financial interests by identifying arrears or debts. Work closely with the Council Tax and Housing Benefits teams. Perform various other ad hoc duties related to the role.Person Specification: Knowledge of homelessness and immigration legislation. Strong communication skills, able to stay calm and confident in challenging situations. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage workload within set targets. Capable of evaluating complex issues, policies, and procedures. Resilient in handling complex and difficult cases. Customer-oriented. Ability to travel to other locations within the area.
