Role Overview
We are recruiting a Part-Time Food Safety Officer for an initial 6-month contract, starting ASAP. The successful candidate will deliver statutory food safety functions, ensuring compliance with food hygiene legislation and supporting local businesses in meeting regulatory standards. This role offers 18–20 hours per week at a competitive rate of £40 per hour. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements may be available subject to service requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct programmed and reactive food hygiene inspections in accordance with the Food Safety Act 1990
- Undertake interventions in line with the Food Standards Agency Food Law Code of Practice
- Investigate food complaints, food poisoning notifications, and infectious disease cases
- Take enforcement action where necessary, including service of Hygiene Improvement Notices and preparation of prosecution files
- Provide advice and guidance to food business operators to ensure compliance with food hygiene regulations
