Interim Head of Service - Waste

Are you an experienced leader within Waste, Street Scene, or Environmental Services looking for your next interim challenge? We are working with a Local Authority seeking an experienced Head of Service – Waste & Street Scene to provide strategic and operational leadership across a broad range of frontline services. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving service performance, leading large operational teams, managing budgets, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering continuous improvement across waste collection, recycling, street cleansing, grounds maintenance, and environmental services. Key Responsibilities: * Lead and manage Waste & Street Scene services * Drive operational performance and service transformation * Manage budgets, contracts, and strategic projects * Ensure compliance with health & safety and environmental legislation * Provide leadership to senior managers and frontline teams * Work closely with elected members, stakeholders, and partner organisations Ideal Background: * Extensive Local Authority experience * Senior leadership experience within Waste, Street Scene, Environmental or Neighbourhood Services * Strong operational and strategic management skills * Experience managing large budgets, contracts, and workforce operations * Proven ability to drive service improvements and change programmes If you would be interested in hearing more, please apply or get in touch for a confidential discussion
