The Maintenance Officer will be responsible for managing and coordinating responsive repairs, maintenance issues, and property-related concerns across a social housing portfolio. The role requires a strong understanding of construction trades, building maintenance, damp, mould and condensation diagnosis, contractor management, and resident liaison. The successful candidate will regularly visit tenants in their homes, oversee repair works, and manage their own workload and diary to ensure an efficient and customer-focused service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate responsive repairs from initial report through to completion.
- Undertake property inspections and home visits to assess maintenance issues and identify appropriate remedial actions.
- Diagnose building defects, including damp, mould and condensation issues, recommending suitable solutions and preventative measures.
- Utilise trade and construction knowledge to assess repair requirements and challenge contractors where necessary.
- Liaise directly with tenants, residents, contractors and internal departments to ensure works are completed effectively and within agreed timescales.
- Monitor contractor performance, ensuring repairs are completed to a high standard and represent value for money.
- Conduct post-inspections and quality checks on completed works.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and communications.
