A leading housing association in the Midlands is seeking an experienced Head of Communications to join the organisation on a 12-month contract during an exciting and transformative period within the social housing sector.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a strategic communications leader to play a key role in shaping organisational reputation, stakeholder engagement, and communications strategy across a values-led business committed to transforming homes, lives, and communities.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Operations Director and working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, you will lead the organisation’s internal, external, and digital communications function, providing strategic direction across a broad communications agenda.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead reputation and brand management activity
  • Oversee media relations and crisis communications
  • Drive stakeholder and community engagement strategies
  • Manage regulatory and customer communications
  • Shape digital communications and channel strategy
  • Lead internal communications and employee engagement initiatives
  • Develop and support a small communications team
  • Partner with senior leadership and Board members on strategic communications priorities

About You

We are looking to speak with senior communications professionals who can demonstrate:

  • Proven experience leading integrated communications functions
  • Strong media relations, reputation management, and crisis communications expertise
  • Experience working within regulated, public service, or purpose-led organisations
  • Strategic stakeholder engagement capability
  • A collaborative, values-driven leadership approach
  • Strong digital and internal communications experience
  • Experience within social housing is desirable but not essential.
