A Local Authority in the South of England is seeking an experienced Trading Standards & Food Standards Officer to support the service on a full-time interim basis for an initial 6 month contract, with potential for extension. This is a practical, frontline role suited to an officer with solid experience across both Trading Standards and Food Standards enforcement who can manage a varied workload and contribute from day one.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering statutory Trading Standards and Food Standards functions in line with current legislation
- Carrying out food hygiene and food standards inspections of food businesses
- Investigating consumer protection complaints and business compliance issues
- Undertaking inspections, audits and advisory visits to commercial premises
- Carrying out enforcement action where required, including drafting notices, improvement actions and preparing cases for legal proceedings
- Providing advice and guidance to food businesses and traders
- Liaising with internal teams, partner agencies and external stakeholders
- Maintaining accurate records and case files in line with service requirements
Essential Requirements:
- Relevant Environmental Health or Trading Standards qualification
- Registration with the EHRB or Trading Standards Professional qualification (as appropriate)
- Proven local authority experience across Food Standards and Trading Standards
