Due to increased service demand, the council is seeking an experienced Licensing Officer to join the team on an interim basis.
Role Overview
We are recruiting a Licensing Officer for an initial 3-month contract, starting ASAP. The successful candidate will deliver a range of statutory licensing functions, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and supporting effective enforcement across the district. This is a full-time role (37 hours per week), offering a competitive rate of £35–£40 per hour. Hybrid working may be available subject to service requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and determine applications under the Licensing Act 2003, including premises licences, personal licences, and Temporary Event Notices
- Administer licences under the Gambling Act 2005 where required
- Handle applications relating to taxi and private hire licensing in accordance with the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976
- Conduct inspections of licensed premises and vehicles to ensure compliance with licence conditions
- Investigate complaints and support enforcement action where necessary
- Prepare reports for Licensing Sub-Committee hearings
