We are working with a local authority in Worcestershire to recruit a Compliance Manager (Fire Lead) to take ownership of fire safety compliance across the Council's corporate and maintained school estate. This is a senior specialist role, acting as the Council's competent person for fire safety, with responsibility for ensuring buildings are safe, legally compliant, and managed in line with post Grenfell legislation.

The Role

As Compliance Manager (Fire Lead), you will lead, manage and continuously improve fire safety compliance, ensuring full adherence to the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, Building Safety Act 2022, and all relevant standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the Responsible Person (Fire) for the Council
  • Leading and maintaining the Council's Fire Safety Policy, Strategy and procedures
  • Overseeing fire risk assessments, FRA reviews, fire door inspections, compartmentation surveys and remedial programmes
  • Managing a risk based programme of works, ensuring actions are tracked and completed
  • Providing expert advice on fire strategy, means of escape, and construction fire safety
  • Managing fire safety consultants and contractors, monitoring performance and KPIs
  • Acting as the main fire compliance contact for maintained schools
  • Working closely with internal teams and external partners
