We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance Engineer for a 6-month interim contract supporting multiple commercial and industrial sites across the South East. This is a hands-on role requiring a technically strong M&E engineer with proven fault-finding capability across both electrical and mechanical building services systems. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating independently, managing priorities, and delivering high-quality maintenance support in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across electrical and mechanical plant
- Carry out reactive maintenance and complex fault diagnosis
- Fault finding on single and three-phase electrical systems
- Inspection, testing, and certification of electrical works in line with BS 7671
- Maintenance of mechanical systems including pumps, motors, valves, actuators, pipework and HVAC plant
- Diagnose issues within control panels and BMS-connected systems
- Repair and replace electrical components including contactors, relays, drives, and distribution boards
- Support minor installation and upgrade projects
- Ensure all works are completed in compliance with H&S legislation and site procedures
- Produce clear service reports and technical documentation
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation, Electrical Maintenance, or Mechanical Engineering
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
- City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) or equivalent highly desirable
- Strong working knowledge of both electrical distribution systems and mechanical plant
- Demonstrable experience in commercial or industrial building services environments
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Proven fault-finding capability across integrated M&E systems
- Full UK Driving Licence
