Temporary Accommodation Officer required for a Local Authority in the North West on an initial 6-month contract.
We are seeking an experienced housing professional to support the delivery of temporary accommodation services for homeless households.
You will be responsible for managing placements, supporting residents, and ensuring accommodation providers meet contractual and statutory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage temporary accommodation placements for homeless applicants.
- Source and secure suitable accommodation in line with statutory requirements.
- Undertake property inspections and ensure health and safety compliance.
- Liaise with accommodation providers, landlords, and support agencies.
- Monitor occupancy levels and minimise void periods.
- Manage tenancy/licence agreements and resident conduct issues.
- Support residents with move-on plans into settled accommodation.
- Monitor rent accounts and assist with the recovery of arrears.
- Maintain accurate case records and property information.
- Respond to enquiries, complaints, and service requests efficiently.
- Ensure services are delivered in line with homelessness legislation and council policies.
Requirements
- Previous Local Authority or Housing Association experience within Temporary Accommodation, Housing Management, or Homelessness Services.
- Good understanding of Housing Act and Homelessness Reduction Act legislation.
- Experience working with vulnerable households.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage a busy caseload and prioritise workload effectively. xgikmsk
