Vivid Healthcare are currently working with a service in South Wales who are seeking an experienced Band 6 or Band 7 Locum Occupational Therapist to support their Preadmission Elective Service. The role focuses on pre-operative assessments, primarily for patients undergoing hip and knee replacements. The majority of assessments and interventions are carried out virtually via telephone, with some requirement to follow up patients in the inpatient setting where needed. You will join an established and supportive team currently delivering this service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Completing pre-operative OT assessments for elective orthopaedic patients
- Providing advice, education and early intervention to optimise patient readiness for surgery
- Identifying equipment, adaptation and discharge planning needs pre-admission
- Liaising with MDT colleagues to support smooth patient pathways
- Occasional inpatient follow-up as required
The ideal candidate will have:
- HCPC registration
- Experience working at Band 6 or Band 7 level
- Strong assessment and communication skills, particularly via telephone
- Ability to work independently as part of a wider MDT
