Job Responsibilities
- The Cath Lab Technologist assists in diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab.
- Preparing patients and equipment for procedures such as cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, and electrophysiology studies.
- Assisting physicians during procedures by handling catheters, wires, balloons, and stents and operating fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment.
- Operating and maintaining imaging equipment, contrast injectors, and hemodynamic monitoring systems.
- Setting up and maintaining sterile fields in accordance with infection control protocols.
- Removing sheaths and achieving hemostasis using manual compression or closure devices.
- Documenting patient records, imaging data, and equipment logs accurately.
- Managing inventory, stocking supplies, and ensuring proper storage of sterile instruments and medications.
- Following radiation safety protocols, including use of lead aprons, shields, and dosimeters.
- Ensuring compliance with hospital policies, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as a Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist.
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification.
- ARRT, RCES, or RCIS certification.
- Current ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Radiologic Technologist license within state regulations.
- PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certifications.
- Other relevant certifications and licenses as required.
