Responsibilities
- designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend APIs and services focused on payment processing, billing, and end-to-end checkout experiences
- integrating and managing third-party payment providers and gateways, ensuring seamless, reliable, and secure transaction flows
- optimizing payment infrastructure for high performance, scalability, and security while handling large volumes of concurrent transactions
- collaborating cross-functionally with frontend, product, and customer support teams to continuously improve the user experience and resolve payment-related issues
- playing a key role in building our own managed payments platform, creating deeply integrated, automated, and scalable payment solutions for our customers
What you will need to succeed in this role
- strong expertise in backend development, particularly in payment processing, billing systems, or checkout flows
- proficiency in at least one backend language, ideally JavaScript or TypeScript
- 5+ years of experience in backend engineering, ideally with hands-on involvement in payment and billing integrations
- experience in working with payment gateway APIs (e.g., Stripe, Adyen, Braintree), checkout systems, or subscription billing platforms
- a solid understanding of NoSQL databases, caching mechanisms, and message queues
- knowledge of data security and compliance standards, including PCI-DSS and best practices for handling sensitive payment data
- being comfortable in cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP) and familiar with Docker and Kubernetes
- the ability to communicate clearly, collaborate effectively, and approach problems with ownership and attention to detail
