We are looking for a dynamic Business Development Manager to join us. Reporting to: Shane Foley, our Head of UK Sales. Location: 2-3 days office based at Old Street, with flexible working and WfH.

About the role: Joining as a Business Development Manager, you will become the face of VivaCity within authorities across Scotland, Wales and Ireland, and the champion of your customers internally. Using a balance of consultative and challenger selling capabilities, you will build relationships with contacts who trust your expertise and believe in our product.
What you’ll be doing:
- Working with contacts based mainly in transport and highways teams in local government, supporting them with gathering game-changing data.
- Running the Sales deal process end-to-end, including lead generation, running discovery meetings, pulling together proposals, navigating procurement processes, and getting to project kick-off.
- Working closely with the Revenue Operations function to generate new opportunities.
- Following our sales playbooks to ask the right questions at the right times, supporting your customers with relevant information.
- Presenting VivaCity’s offering in an engaging and educational manner.
- Attention to detail when scoping projects and putting together proposals.
- Forecasting opportunities realistically, in order to support Delivery.
- Sharing information about new customers and opportunities with Product.
- Keeping a close eye on your sales metrics.
- Being a member of a tight-knit sales team, participating and running skills and knowledge workshops to help yourself and colleagues be the best they can be.
Knowledge and Skills that lead to success in this role; you don’t have to have them all, but the capacity and curiosity to acquire them:
- Knowledge: Sales targets and resulting metrics, what makes up a good customer journey, opportunities and demands that come in an entrepreneurial business, sales coaching environment, a desire to understand VivaCity’s technology.
- Ideal: How local government works, transport and highways activity; funding, schemes, themes.
- Skills: Understanding your customers’ needs and priorities, timeboxing to balance wide-ranging activities, engaging and relevant written communication (emailing, messaging) and winning spoken communication (cold-calling, presentations), running discovery calls to identify the right fit with prospects, performance metrics monitoring, communicating with clients, automating the boring important stuff, communicating internally, utilising SaaS tools to save time, document information well, clear, timely communication to support product development and project delivery, attention to detail when sharing information (tender writing, proposal writing, CRM updates, project scoping).
Bonus knowledge and skills for success: Pipedrive, Slack, Google suite, computer vision and/or Artificial Intelligence.
