This role demands a proactive, commercially aware fraud specialist with deep domain expertise in card acquiring, issuing, and digital payments. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing fraud risk within a regulated financial services environment, be confident navigating card scheme requirements, and bring a strong mix of analytical, technical, and stakeholder management skills. Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and lead complex fraud investigations across card payments and account transactions, responding to alerts from Experian, CIFAS, internal systems, and other intelligence sources.
  • Monitor acquiring and issuing transaction activity to proactively identify emerging fraud patterns and mitigate risks in real time.
  • Build and enhance fraud MI dashboards and reporting packs to support internal governance, regulatory reporting, and operational efficiency.
  • Work cross-functionally with Risk, Compliance, and Operations to design and implement targeted fraud controls.
  • Optimise rule-based and data-driven fraud detection models in line with the latest scheme and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay informed on fraud trends across the payments ecosystem and translate insight into strategy and preventative controls.
  • Support regulatory, audit, and scheme reporting as required, representing the fraud function in relevant forums.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a fraud role within the payments, acquiring, or card issuing space – ideally at a regulated EMI, PSP, or acquirer.
  • Strong working knowledge of card scheme rules (Visa, Mastercard) and risk management expectations.
  • Experience managing end-to-end fraud investigations, including the use of tools such as Experian, CIFAS, and fraud detection systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce meaningful fraud MI and insights to drive decision-making and performance improvement.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to challenge and influence constructively.
  • Proactive, analytical mindset with the ability to work independently and take ownership of key risk areas.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills; experience with SQL, fraud tools, or analytics platforms is an advantage.
