ViVA Tech Talent are looking for an experienced Python contractor to join an engineering team delivering API-driven services and data integrations. You’ll be building and supporting backend components, integrating with third-party/internal APIs, and working with relational databases in a fast-paced delivery environment.
What you’ll be doing:
- Building and enhancing Python backend services with a focus on API integrations
- Consuming and integrating APIs (internal + external), including authentication, error handling and performance considerations
- Developing and maintaining services using FastAPI
- Connecting services to PostgreSQL (querying, performance tuning basics, data modelling awareness)
- Writing maintainable, well-tested code and supporting quality practices across the delivery lifecycle
Essential skills & experience:
- Strong commercial experience with Python
- Solid experience building/consuming REST APIs
- Hands-on experience connecting to PostgreSQL databases
- Experience with FastAPI in production (or equivalent Python web frameworks with clear FastAPI exposure)
Nice to have:
- Strong TDD mindset and practical experience
- Test automation, including acceptance testing (e.g., integration/e2e-style tests)
Contract: Inside IR35
Duration: 3 months
Location/Hybrid: Belfast, 3-days On-site is a must
