Band 6 Biomedical Scientist - Haematology, Biochemistry & Immunology.
PLEASE NOTE: Our laboratory is not accessible by public transport so you must be a driver with a full licence and access to a car.
Salary: £36,000 per annum (+ additional shift allowance)
Reporting into the Pathology Operations Manager, Biomedical Scientists are responsible for analysis and reporting of pathology specimens at our pathology laboratory based in Winkfield, Berkshire as well as ensuring provision of a high-quality technical service in line with ISO 15189.
Sample testing/reporting:
- Carrying out routine analysis of specimens across a variety of disciplines including Haematology, Biochemistry and Immunology.
- Working with Medical Laboratory Assistants, Associate Practitioners and Senior Biomedical Scientists to complete swift and accurate analysis of specimens in line with local SOPs and ISO 15189.
Laboratory operations:
- Maintaining laboratory stock levels and working collaboratively with the stock management/procurement team to ensure adequate stock at all times.
- Ensuring a high standard of laboratory housekeeping in line with 5S principles and local laboratory facility SOPs.
Quality/compliance:
- Ensuring adherence to all laboratory SOPs, policies and processes.
- Performing work in line with company EHS and general best laboratory practices.
Any other reasonable duties as requested by the Pathology Operations Manager.

Entrepreneurial spirit: helping to establish new laboratory sites in collaboration with the VHL senior leadership team, define the testing.
Requirements:
- Have experience in clinical diagnostic Haematology, Biochemistry and Immunology.
- Band 6 Biomedical Scientist (essential).
- Experience with a wide array of analysers both point of care and laboratory based.
- 2 years’ experience working within an ISO15189:2012 accredited blood sciences laboratory.
- Super organised: used to juggling multiple projects with different priorities and working to short deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail: our team rely on us to ensure projects run perfectly.
- Tech savvy: confident using MS Office.
Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Sunday depending on the needs of the business.
Based at our laboratory - The Stables, New Lodge, Drift Road, Winkfield, Windsor, Berkshire, SL4 4RR.
