As a Sustainability Specialist your responsibilities will include:
- Advising on sustainability requirements when trading sustainable products
- Supporting the end-to-end sustainability process
- Establishing / maintaining management systems to ensure compliance with legal requirements and voluntary schemes
- Continuous focus on improvement and optimization of existing sustainability processes and tools
The job has an international scope and requires some travelling. You will be reporting to Vitol’s Sustainability team and primarily working with Vitol’s Biomethane and BioLNG (together Renewable Natural Gas, or “RNG”) commercial team. The RNG team has close links to Vitol’s portfolio company ViGo Bioenergy (“ViGo”), which has its headquarters in Berlin. You will be expected to oversee sustainability processes at ViGo. At times, the role will also be expected to cover other activities within the Sustainability team.
The Role:
- Coordinate, prepare for, and play an active role in Vitol & ViGo (re-)certification audits
- Stay on top of legislative changes in the relevant jurisdictions and, when required, proactively propose what Vitol and its portfolio companies should do to anticipate these changes
- Advise (proactive and on demand) the various internal stakeholders on sustainability implications in relation to our trades and our asset related activities
- Execute the PoS process from receipt until issuance
- Manage national ticket schemes such as THG, RTFC, HBE and ERE by creating and executing the transfer of tickets and relevant databases
- Maintain and review our mass-balances
- Participate in providing bespoke sustainability training to internal stakeholders
- Support development of system and process improvements
- Participate in external stakeholder meetings and advocacy regarding legislative and certification requirements on the sustainability of the products we trade
- Support the Sustainability Manager in formalising internal procedures and policies in relation to product sustainability
Qualifications:
- Minimal 5 years of relevant experience in sustainability (for example RED I, II, III and ISCC or similar voluntary schemes)
- Inhouse experience in commodity trading
- Experience in the RNG, aviation, marine and chemical sectors is an advantage
- Demonstrable experience with data analytics and process optimization
- Project management experience is a plus
- Experience with ERP and other software
- Good excel and numerical skills
