As a Graduate Software Development Engineer In Test, you’ll create new and maintain existing tools to aid in the testing of our range of products, delivering high quality TV and video over enterprise IP networks. The scope of possibilities is endless as the team are constantly developing new ideas and products. You’ll be a key member of the Software Development team, to ensure that our products meet the standards expected by our worldwide customer base.

We challenge our engineering teams to develop and build applications that span our range of IPTV products, from head end through to set top box and server, building a coherent and comprehensive technology stack. We call it create, play, control.

Your enhancements to the current test tools will help deliver a quality focused product that will be used by professional AV system administrators and embedded in end user products used by big worldwide brands that you know, use, and love.

Collaboration is key, that’s why it’s an office-based role, you need to be able to access all the various end point equipment on site too, something that can’t be done remotely.

About You

You are likely to be studying towards or have achieved a technical degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain software test tools to streamline the Software Development life cycle
  • Design and develop test cases
  • Contribute to the integration of test frameworks into continuous integration/continuous development pipelines and development workflows
  • Collaborate with Software Engineers and Test Engineers to build testable systems, including hooks, diagnostics, and instrumentation
  • Support the validation of embedded systems, including low-level software, drivers, and hardware interfaces
  • Participate in code reviews to provide feedback on testability and ensure adherence to coding standards
  • Write code that improves the overall testability of the software
  • Write and maintain documentation to support knowledge sharing with the wider team
  • Investigate and propose the use of 3rd Party tools to enhance the test coverage of the VITEC products
  • Be a quality champion by educating the wider team on best practices and driving a quality-first mindset

  • A good understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) & processes
  • The ability to problem-solve, along with good organisational and analytical skills

  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code

  • The ability to identify, investigate, debug and reports defects
