We are looking for a Software Development Manager to lead one or more agile development teams in the design, development, and maintenance of our product portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Provide management and leadership to one or more development teams working on new product design and maintenance of the existing product line.
  • Work closely with the Software Architect to develop new products in accordance with agreed requirements and design specifications, ensuring a high level of product quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Software Architect, and Product Owners to distil disparate requirements into Features and Product Backlog Items suitable for multiple agile development teams.
  • Ensure team backlogs are visible, clear, and prioritised to maximise output and value.
  • Estimate development activities and create and manage a delivery plan to ensure on‑time delivery.
  • Report progress against the delivery plan in a clear and open manner.
  • Manage the agile development process, including facilitating daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to ensure on‑time delivery.
  • Develop and mentor the team, setting a good example in timing commitments and maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Manage the performance and career progression of software/firmware developers and testers.
  • Demonstrate domain knowledge and share it across the team(s).

Qualifications

  • Broad and extensive knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle process and its supporting technologies.
  • Experience managing, leading, and motivating software engineering teams, particularly in an Agile environment.
  • Strong ability to build inclusive, high‑performing teams, with excellent communication and conflict‑resolution skills.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and risk‑management skills.
  • Ability to engage successfully with managers and stakeholders at all levels within the business.
  • Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Self‑managing to meet demands across multiple teams wherever possible.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using JIRA (or similar tool).
  • Exposure to Aha!
  • Exposure to Embedded technology software development practices and tools.
  • Scrum certificate.
  • SAFe certified.
  • AgilePM or similar.
