VITEC have a fantastic opportunity to join our R&D team in Dalgety Bay as a Product Owner. The role is in office – the successful person will act as the voice of the customer and stakeholders for the R&D team.

As part of the R&D team, reporting to the local Head of R&D, the Product Owner manages the product backlog for key products within the VITEC group. This includes creating, maintaining and tracking all tasks associated with new features, changes to existing features, handling defects and bugs to be fixed. The Product Owner focuses on internal inbound needs and is the key to translating the Product Management roadmap to a successful deliverable in terms of feature set and time to market.

What You’ll Do

  • Product Requirements: Translate stakeholder needs and product strategy from Product Management into actionable user stories, requirements and acceptance criteria for the R&D team via the R&D tool (Jira).
  • Prioritize Development Work: Create and maintain the feature backlog, prioritise items based on the product roadmap to ensure the product delivers the highest possible business value.
  • Product backlog management: Ensure work in progress meets product requirements through acceptance and UX criteria, guiding changes as needed before and after completion.
  • Work Closely with Development Team: Guide the development team on how to build features and interactions using domain knowledge and set development priorities in accordance with the product roadmap and R&D process and technologies.
  • Ensure Development Process Compliance and Transparent reporting: Collaborate with the development team leads and Program Manager to ensure the process is followed, and deadlines are met. Report any deviation compared to initial plans ensure all stakeholders are informed.

About You

You’ll have:

  • Experience in either product ownership, product management, business analysis, or a related field.
  • A strong understanding of how users interact with the products - Insight into product development, user needs and stakeholder management.
  • Knowledge of Agile, Scrum and similar product development approaches and an understanding of product life cycles, road maps and strategy.
