- Strong commercial & outcome-driven decision making
- Expertise in sales journeys (telephony & digital)
What this role is all about:
We’re looking for a Head of Product – Life Sales, on a 12-month fixed term contract, to take full ownership of how we design and deliver our sales experience across both telephony and digital channels. This is a high-impact role where you’ll set the vision, shape the roadmap, and lead a team to deliver measurable commercial results. Working at the heart of the business, you’ll partner closely with sales, commercial and technology teams to continuously evolve how we sell and serve our customers.
Key Actions:
- Set the direction: Define an outcome-led vision and roadmap for your value streams and keep it connected to business strategy. Make smart prioritisation calls and hold the line on them, even when the pressure is on.
- Work closely with sales, commercial, and operations teams to make sure your product investments land with real impact.
- Lead your squads: Coach and develop Product Managers, raising the bar on product thinking. Drive genuine agile maturity – beyond process compliance and toward real flow, learning, and outcome focus.
- Bring a pragmatic approach to PI Planning - use it to align, not to constrain.
- Evolve the sales channel: Bring deep knowledge of telephony-based sales and a clear view on where digital and messaging channels can complement or replace them. Identify friction, run experiments, and shift the metrics that matter: conversion, satisfaction, and adviser experience.
- Champion both the adviser and the customer.
- Use AI to work smarter: Apply AI tools to accelerate the work: discovery, documentation, analysis, and prioritisation. Bring informed views on how AI is changing software delivery and help your squads adapt practically. Stay curious and share what you learn.
- Influence and connect: Build trusted relationships with engineering leads, architects, and Scrum Masters. Represent your portfolio clearly at programme-level governance and PI events. Collaborate with the wider Head of Product community on shared practices, standards, and ways of working.
- Define, measure, and report on product performance: Work cross-functionally to define and own the product measures of success. Establish clear goals and KPIs, ensuring alignment to business strategy and commercial outcomes.
What do you need to thrive?
- Proven experience as a Head of Product or Senior Product Manager in a complex, regulated environment, with ownership of commercial outcomes.
- Experience across sales channels (telephony and/or direct digital journeys).
- Strong understanding of Scaled Agile (SAFe), including PI Planning.
- Practical experience using AI tools to improve product delivery and decision-making.
- Strong leadership and coaching capability, with experience developing high-performing product teams.
- Commercially focused and outcomes-driven, confident influencing senior stakeholders and making prioritisation decisions.
So, what’s in it for you?
- Bonus Schemes – A bonus that regularly rewards you for your performance.
- A pension of up to 12%– We will match your contributions up to 6% of your salary.
- Our award-winning Vitality health insurance – With its own set of rewards and benefits.
