As an Income Protection Claims Specialist at Vitality, you assess claims from notification to decision with care and fairness. You work within a supportive team to uphold technical excellence, compliance and service standards. You’ll partner with underwriters, reinsurers and other stakeholders to deliver timely, robust outcomes. Your coaching and knowledge sharing help raise team capability, while you maintain a focus on compassionate member outcomes. This role combines expert claims work with a culture that values health, flexibility and growth.

Responsibilities
- Assess Income Protection claims from initial notification through to decision, gathering medical and financial information to support fair outcomes
- Manage claims in line with industry practice, regulatory requirements and SLAs
- Draft clear, professional claims decision letters and related correspondence for stakeholders
- Build relationships with underwriters, reinsurers and other stakeholders to support timely outcomes
- Share expertise with colleagues, champion best practice and provide coaching
- Deliver exceptional service by following internal client service practices and building trusted relationships
Key requirements
- Broad experience assessing and managing Income Protection claims with knowledge of complex scenarios
- Experience working with the Financial Ombudsman Service on claims-related matters
- Experience working with reinsurers and managing stakeholder relationships
- Confidence presenting ideas, training peers and sharing knowledge across the team
- Understanding of the UK insurance market and regulatory environment
- Intermediate skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office applications
