About The Role

Team Engineering Standards

Working Pattern - Hybrid 2 days per week in the Vitality London, Bournemouth or Stockport Office. Full time hours per week. We are happy to discuss flexible working!

What this role is all about:

The Lead Solution Architect plays a critical role in shaping and delivering enterprise-wide technology solutions that support strategic business objectives.

  • Lead the design and governance of technology solutions across a complex architecture landscape.
  • Partnering with architects, engineers, analysts and product teams, you will promote best practice, drive continuous improvement and help deliver innovative solutions that create business value.

Key Actions

  • Shape and define end-to-end technology solutions across products, platforms and applications, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, development standards and strategic objectives.
  • Act as the architectural lead for complex initiatives, providing expert guidance and resolving technical and solution design challenges.
  • Lead, mentor and support Solution Architects, promoting architectural best practice and consistency across the enterprise journey.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for new initiatives and product enhancements, contributing to solution feasibility, estimation and technical decision-making.
  • Own the creation, governance and maintenance of Solution Design documentation, securing appropriate review and approval throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Drive the development and adoption of architecture standards, design patterns and governance processes as a member of the Enterprise Architecture community.
  • Partner with delivery, product and engineering teams to support projects and enhancements from inception through to implementation.
  • Support incident and problem management activities, leading root cause analysis and defining sustainable technical solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to promote continuous improvement across design, development, testing, deployment and operational support.
  • Build strong relationships with business stakeholders, third-party suppliers and technology partners to ensure successful solution delivery and alignment across the wider organisation.

What do you need to thrive?

  • Extensive Solution Architecture experience across complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong knowledge of modern technologies including Java, .NET, JavaScript, microservices, containers, databases and cloud platforms.
  • Proven ability to design scalable solutions across multiple products, applications and technical domains.
  • Expertise in architecture governance, design standards, patterns and solution assurance.
  • Experience producing and maintaining high-quality solution design documentation.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working within Agile environments, ideally SAFe frameworks.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership, coaching and support to architects and engineering teams.
  • Self-motivation, accountability and a continuous improvement mindset.
