About The Role

Team: Data and Information Services

Working Pattern: Hybrid, 2 days per week in the Vitality Bournemouth Office. Full time, 35 hours per week.

What this role is all about:

This role sits between business and data, helping shape how data is used to support decisions, improve processes, and deliver better outcomes across Vitality UK. You will work with stakeholders to understand problems, ask the right questions, and translate business needs into clear data requirements and solutions. You will gain hands-on experience across the full lifecycle, from early discovery through to delivery, focusing on building your skills in data analysis, requirements, testing, and how data is structured and used to generate insight.

Key Actions:

  • Support the design and delivery of data solutions by working with stakeholders to understand business needs and helping translate them into clearly documented data requirements.
  • Lead and support requirements gathering activities using techniques such as workshops, brainstorming sessions, interviews, modelling and more.
  • Capture key information and turn it into clear, structured documentation which evolves with the needs of the business.
  • Assist in assessing the impact of changes to existing data assets and ensure consistency across outputs.
  • Work closely with data engineers and technical teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood and implemented correctly within data flows and systems.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the Vitality Group, contributing to projects from the very beginning through to delivery, and communicating clearly to keep everyone aligned.
  • Assist with building business cases, helping to define what is in scope and ensuring that each request for data asset has a clear purpose and is genuinely achievable.
  • Support data validation and testing activities, ensuring outputs align with business logic, data definitions, and expected outcomes, ensuring any issues or gaps are highlighted.
  • Assist with the set-up and ongoing maintenance of automated outputs, helping to monitor for issues and ensure information is delivered accurately and on time.
  • Collaborate with other Information Analysts to provide first-line support for data queries, helping to diagnose issues and understand their impact.
  • Develop a solid grounding in how Vitality works, its data, business processes and analytics community, so you can support meaningful change and help ensure data developments land effectively.

What do you need to thrive?

  • Keen interests in business and technology, particularly regarding data, analysis and software development.
  • Basic understanding of how data is structured and used, including how it flows through systems.
  • Foundational experience using SQL to interrogate data, validate outputs, and support problem solving.
  • Foundational understanding of visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI).
  • Investigative, analytical and logical problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of general software, in particular Word, PowerPoint.
  • Excel knowledge, including macros, pivots, complex formula, graphical summarisation & reporting.
  • Ability to quickly learn new skills.
