Contract role, Children's Social Work

Vitalis are recruiting for an experienced Early Help Worker in Wigan. This is to assist the Family Help Practice Manager in the day-to-day management of one or two Neighbourhood Teams for children and families. Working within a multi-agency framework you will support families with complex needs, working as their champion and advocate to improve aspirations and outcomes by building on strengths to reduce dependency on public services.

Requirements

  • Qualified in one of the caring professions, have a relevant Level 4 qualification or evidence of the equivalent QCF Credit Value with equivalent experience of working with children and families with complex needs.
  • Evidence of a management qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Supervisory experience in working and managing inspected services.
  • A history of continuing professional development and a willingness to maintain this to support service delivery.
  • Completed additional training in safeguarding, family and/or parenting support, health.
  • A good understanding of current developments in the delivery of integrated services to children, young people and their families.
  • A commitment to and evidence of continuous professional development.
  • The ability to develop effective working relationships with colleagues and other agencies.
  • The ability to work flexibly and respond positively to change.
  • Highly developed influencing and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to identify problems, generate solutions and take appropriate action.
  • An in-depth knowledge and understanding of the legislative frameworks associated with working with children, young people and families.
  • Hold a current driving license or can demonstrate the ability to travel as required using own or public transport in the most effective manner.
  • To be able to work flexibly, this may include evening and weekend work where it is deemed appropriate.
