The Opportunity: The Solutions Consultant is a customer-facing role responsible for supporting the design, positioning, and delivery of VitalHub UK’s solutions across key NHS domains, with this role focused on Elective and Planned Care, specifically outpatients and patient access. You will apply credible sector knowledge, structured diagnostic approaches, and practical solution design to help customers achieve measurable operational and clinical improvement, with particular strength in elective recovery priorities and the operational mechanics of outpatient and elective pathways. This role links customer needs, product capability, and successful adoption. You will support pre-sales and post-sales activity, producing clear consultancy outputs, shaping value propositions, and ensuring insights from the field are translated into scalable methods and actionable feedback for Commercial, Customer Engagement, and Product teams. As an elective and outpatients subject matter expert, you will bring authoritative knowledge of Referral to Treatment (RTT) policy, outpatient booking processes, and patient access service operations, using this to shape diagnostics, pathway mapping, and improvement recommendations.
Your Responsibilities:
- Consultancy Delivery & Customer Value: Deliver consultancy engagements across trusts and Integrated Care Systems, including diagnostic audits, pathway assessments, capability reviews, and improvement recommendations. Work with customer stakeholders to understand operational challenges, define goals, and establish success measures aligned to NHS priorities. Produce clear, evidence-driven outputs that translate findings into practical recommendations and implementation-ready next steps. Support Customer Success and Implementation teams to integrate consultancy findings into adoption planning, optimisation work, and measurable outcome tracking. Contribute to consistent project governance, documentation, and stakeholder communications, ensuring a high standard of delivery across engagements. Lead elective and outpatients diagnostics with NHS providers, focusing on patient access services, outpatient booking processes, and elective admissions operational controls. Apply expert knowledge of RTT policy and associated operational requirements to help customers identify root causes of delay, variation, backlog risk, and capacity constraints. Work alongside clinical and non-clinical teams to align pathway change with service realities and ensure recommendations are implementable and measurable. Support customers to improve delivery against agreed performance indicators, productivity expectations, and service quality measures within elective and outpatients services.
- Sector expertise and insight: Develop and maintain strong, up-to-date understanding of Elective and Planned Care, with specific expertise in outpatients and patient access services, and working awareness across the wider portfolio. Stay informed on relevant NHS policy, operational pressures, and digital transformation agendas, reflecting this in consultancy delivery and solution design. Identify recurring themes, systemic issues, and opportunities across customers, escalating insights to the Director of Solutions Consultancy and relevant stakeholders. Support the creation and refinement of sector-specific artefacts, evidence, and case studies that strengthen credibility and consistency. Contribute to elective recovery planning and transformation activity by translating operational needs into clear work packages, governance, milestones, and success measures.
- Solution Design & Portfolio Enablement: Translate operational challenges into digital, workflow, and data-driven solution designs that reflect VitalHub’s product capability and implementation realities. Bring a strong understanding of elective and outpatients operational workflows and the enabling digital landscape, using this to shape practical solution designs and adoption approaches. Support alignment between consultancy insights and product development by providing structured, actionable feedback to Product teams. Contribute to cross-product positioning to help customers understand how VitalHub’s capabilities work together to address pathway-wide challenges. Maintain high-quality solution documentation, including pathway mappings, use cases, and value narratives that can be reused and adapted across customers.
- Sales & Commercial Support: Partner with Sales and Bid teams to support pre-sales activity, including discovery, solution scoping, demonstrations, and tender responses. Provide elective and outpatients subject matter leadership in commercial opportunities, bringing credibility on elective recovery, RTT considerations, and patient access operations. Develop diagnostic summaries and sector evidence that support compelling value propositions and strengthen commercial opportunities. Contribute to opportunity qualification by helping define fit, feasibility, dependencies, and expected outcomes. Support handover from pre-sales to Sales and Delivery, ensuring continuity of context, scope, and success measures. Apply consistent tools, frameworks, and methods across consultancy engagements, contributing to a scalable and repeatable approach. Support continuous improvement by contributing templates, guidance, and lessons learned that raise quality and efficiency. Role objectives, success measures, and KPIs will be developed and agreed as the Solutions Consultancy function is established. Initial KPIs for the role will be defined and agreed within the first 60 to 90 days, with regular reviews to reflect evolving organisational priorities and alignment with Commercial, Customer Engagement, and Product objectives.
