We are seeking a dedicated Conformance Engineer for a key 6-month assignment with our client, a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and reliability of the UK's rail network. About You
- Proven experience in Rail Vehicle Engineering (including Electrical & Mechanical Systems Interfaces).
- Specific knowledge and experience working with loading units (Intermodal Load Units - ILUs).
- A strong background in vehicle assessment, certification, maintenance, and audits.
- A meticulous eye for detail and a robust understanding of rail safety management and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload effectively.
Your Mission
In this role, you will be central to the safety certification process, with key responsibilities including:
- Performing conformance assessments for new or modified rail infrastructure, vehicles, Intermodal Load Units (ILUs), and associated equipment against mandatory standards.
- Preparing detailed assessment reports, certification documentation, and submissions to external approval bodies.
- Conducting audits of client activities to provide assurance and uphold certification integrity.
- Reviewing and assessing maintenance plans to ensure lifelong subsystem compliance.
- Witnessing testing and checking construction for conformance with approved designs.
- Providing expert advice to customers and stakeholders on regulations, including Interoperability and Common Safety Methods.
- Leading technical investigations without compromising certification independence.
