Are You a Project Manager Who Doesn’t Just Report on Progress, You Own It?
We’re not looking for coordinators or reporters. We’re seeking a hands-on leader who thrives on total ownership. This is a role where you carry the material risk and reward for delivery, commercial performance, and team leadership. If you’re decisive, commercially razor-sharp, and motivated by clear accountability, read on.
This is a pivotal role for our clients business. You will take end-to-end command of a substantial programme of small schemes, where your judgement and autonomy will directly drive success. Our client is looking for someone who shares their ambition and will prioritise quality over quantity.
Who We Need:
- Proven Experience: A demonstrable track record of hands-on delivery and commercial ownership—not theoretical or coordination-only project management.
- Employment Status: Permanent employment history only (no contract-only roles in the last 5 years).
- Management Background: Proven line management experience, including performance management.
- Sector Background: Experience in a fast-paced delivery, consultancy, or contractor environment (non-client-side preferred). Rail experience is advantageous, but not essential. We value sector-agnostic, decisive delivery and commercial acumen above all.
The Role:
- Programme Delivery: From procurement and planning to final delivery. You own the schedule, dashboards, management information, and executive updates.
- Commercial & Financial Performance: Full accountability for forecasting, budgeting, cost control, margin, and cashflow. You identify risk early and act.
- NEC4 Contract Execution: Hands-on administration of live NEC4 contracts. You will professionally manage obligations, entitlements, and necessary commercial discussions.
- People Leadership: Direct line management of a delivery team. This includes driving performance, developing talent, and making necessary tough decisions when required.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Confidently articulating positions to senior leadership and stakeholders, acting as a persuasive representative of the business.
Why Step Into This Role?
- Autonomy & Impact: Operate with genuine judgement and own the outcomes.
- Career Pathway: This role is a proven springboard for progression into senior leadership for the motivated individual.
- Clear Remit: You will know exactly what you are accountable for, with the authority to match.
- Competitive Package: A strong base salary complemented by a performance-related bonus and a comprehensive benefits package. The final offer will reflect your depth of experience in delivery ownership, NEC4, commercial management, and people leadership.
If you match the criteria above then our client will want to meet you. Please apply for a confidential chat and more details on this role.
