This is a depot-based role operating Monday to Friday, with the Coventry Depot as your main base and where the majority of work will be carried out. The role will also involve supporting the emergency deployment of parts to customer and site locations as required.
Job Overview – Warehouse Operative
The Warehouse Operative will play a key role in supporting the operational efficiency of both Vital Power and Vital EV Solutions. This hands-on position is responsible for managing the day-to-day flow of goods, parts, and equipment through the warehouse. You will ensure accuracy, organisation, and compliance with internal processes. The role requires a proactive and dependable individual with a strong focus on safety, attention to detail, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Warehouse Operations
- Provide manual handling support within the warehouse to ensure safe and efficient movement of goods.
- Assist with parts picking, packing, and distribution to meet operational and customer requirements.
- Complete all goods-in and goods-out documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support the management of critical spares to ensure stock availability and readiness.
- Process warranty shipments, including returning warrantable parts and maintaining associated documentation.
Equipment and Tooling Control
- Manage and maintain the equipment and tooling sign-in/sign-out process to ensure accountability.
- Oversee the calibration schedule and control of engineering tooling.
- Carry out regular load bank and road trailer inspections to ensure safety and compliance.
- Support with emergency deployment of parts, equipment, or tooling to site as required.
Quality and Safety
- Conduct Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs) on EV equipment, checking general condition and packing accuracy.
- Act as a secondary driver for the Forklift Truck (FLT), ensuring safe and compliant use.
- Maintain high standards of depot organisation and cleanliness, arranging repairs, cleaning, and waste removal as needed.
- Contribute to a safe working environment by following all health and safety procedures and reporting any hazards or incidents promptly.
Person Specification
Criteria – Education, Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Full UK manual driving licence (minimum Category B) with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics-based role.
- Good understanding of safe manual handling practices.
- Strong attention to detail with good organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Valid FLT licence (or willingness to train).
- Basic IT skills for processing documentation and using internal systems.
- A flexible and proactive attitude, with a willingness to support wider operational needs.
- Ability to work independently and manage own workload effectively.
- Flexibility to work additional hours or weekends when required.
- A strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental practices.
Desirable:
- Experience delivering equipment within a power generation, construction, or electrical environment.
- Familiarity with working around electric vehicle charging equipment and understanding low-voltage vs high-voltage component (or willingness to learn).
