Trainee CAD Technician
The Opportunity
Our design team interact with all departments and are responsible for delivering innovative solutions.
Projects you could be involved with range from energy reduction measures for an existing building a city-wide heat network utilising low carbon heat pumps.
We have a diverse and creative design team who have successfully delivered award winning zero carbon solutions.
We are proud to say that all of our projects are designed in-house as part of multi-disciplinary engineering team.
As a Trainee CAD Technician within the design team you will assist the Senior CAD Designer in producing a variety of proposal, construction and installation drawings for contracts across the UK.
The Role
Day to day you will be involved in
- Maintaining the integrity of the Vital Energi quality management system
- Issuing and recording drawings in accordance with the procedures.
- Printing and copying drawings and documents.
- Producing computer aided 2D and 3D models and detail drawings from sketches.
- Liaising with Engineers and other such persons to enable accurate drawings to be produced.

Skills/Experience
- GCSEs grade 6 / B in Maths, English Language and a Science OR
- BTEC, ONC or NVQ2 in an engineering related subject (or already in process of undertaking these courses).
- Competencies
- Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision once trained.
- Ability to work in a logical manner.
- Computer literate and experience of MS Office.
- Willing to undertake training where appropriate.
- Flexibility in relation to tasks undertaken and hours completed.
- Good at problem solving.
- Computer literate with experience of MS Office programmes.
