Vital Energi is looking for a proactive, customer‑focused Technical Sales Engineer to join our growing Head Office team in Blackburn. In this role, you will be a key commercial interface between our clients and the HIU product offering, translating customer needs into compelling technical solutions and supporting the sales cycle from enquiry to order.
Key Accountabilities
- Interpret customer requirements to provide suitable, cost‑effective, technically feasible HIU solutions.
- Carry out necessary calculations and selections to prepare HIU quotations that meet the customers’ and project teams’ requirements.
- Serve as the point of contact for any HIU‑related queries from consultants, contractors, plumbers, homeowners and tenants.
- Prepare HIU documentation such as works orders, technical submissions, datasheets, installation guides, commissioning procedures and O&M manuals.
- Assist with design and development of the company’s HIU offering to meet current and future market requirements.
- Collaborate with HIU manufacturers to improve product price, function and appearance.
- Provide quotations for replacement HIU spare parts and coordinate dispatch as necessary.
- Develop and maintain a suitable documentation library.
- Attend, address and respond to external queries promptly to maximise sales opportunities and enhance the company’s reputation with existing and potential clients.
- Develop and share knowledge of other industry HIU offerings.
- Create effective working processes to support the HIU function.
Other Duties
- Control stock of HIU components to fulfil projected orders for spare parts and complete HIUs, assisting with stock takes where necessary.
- Liaise with HIU/component manufacturers to ensure orders are delivered in accordance with customers’ and project teams’ expectations.
- Process deliveries of components and HIUs.
Qualifications
- HNC level or higher in a mechanical engineering discipline.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or Microsoft Dynamics desirable.
- Knowledge of HIUs, heating & air‑conditioning systems and/or energy centre processes advantageous.
- High attention to detail.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work to deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Accurate and efficient data input.
