Would you like to be part of Vital Energi’s Strategy of Growth? If so, we’re looking for a talented Technical Business Analyst to join our dynamic team at our Head Office in Blackburn with support to sites.

Due to Vital Energi's continued growth, we are looking for an IT Hardware Build Engineer to be responsible for the preparation, configuration, testing, deployment and recovery of IT hardware used by employees across the organisation. The role covers laptops, desktop computers, tablets, mobile phones, monitors, docking stations, printers, mobile connectivity devices, non-core routers and associated peripherals. The role may also occasionally involve the physical preparation or installation of server hardware under the direction of the Infrastructure team.

The successful candidate will have previous practical experience of building, configuring and troubleshooting business IT equipment. They will ensure that equipment is securely configured, fully tested, accurately recorded and ready for use before deployment. This is a hands-on technical role focused on reliable operational delivery.

A few key responsibilities

  • Build, configure, test and deploy laptops, desktops, mobile devices and associated IT equipment.
  • Install and configure operating systems, software, hardware components and security updates in line with company standards.
  • Enrol and manage devices using Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopilot, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft 365.
  • Support user onboarding, internal moves and offboarding processes, ensuring accurate user and device records are maintained.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software and device deployment issues, carrying out upgrades and component replacements where required.
  • Manage the lifecycle of IT assets, including receiving, recording, issuing, tracking, rebuilding and securely disposing of equipment.
  • Maintain inventory levels of hardware, accessories and spare devices, performing regular stock checks and asset audits.
  • Prepare and deploy peripherals, connectivity devices and end-user equipment to support business operations.
  • Assist with large-scale deployment projects, hardware refresh programmes, office relocations and site setups.
  • Produce and maintain build documentation, procedures, knowledge articles and asset records.
  • Ensure compliance with company security, data protection, encryption, patching and health and safety requirements.
  • Work closely with internal teams to meet deployment deadlines, communicate risks and support occasional out-of-hours implementation activities.

Education & Experience:

Experience:

  • A minimum of two years’ practical experience in an IT hardware build, deployment, desktop support or field-service role, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Previous experience building, configuring and troubleshooting laptops and desktop computers in a business environment.
  • Experience managing multiple device builds and working to fixed onboarding or deployment deadlines.

Education:

  • GCSE English and Mathematics at grade 4/C or above, or equivalent competence demonstrated through relevant work experience.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • CompTIA A+, Network+ or an equivalent hardware or technical support qualification.
  • Microsoft Fundamentals or endpoint-related certification.
  • ITIL Foundation, apprenticeship, BTEC, NVQ, HNC or equivalent IT qualification.

Knowledge:

  • Experience with Business System Development
  • Knowledge of systems architecture and design
  • Good Experience in Works Management Systems
  • Experience in Microsoft Power platforms.
  • Experience in BPMN (Business Process Management Notation)
  • Business Change & Transformation Management
  • Operational Service Management
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Systems
  • Work Management Systems (Ideally a good knowledge in Service Management CAFM Systems)
