The Opportunity

As a result of successful company growth, we are looking for a Development Manager to join our project development team based from our Blackburn Head Office. Our project development team interact with all departments and are responsible for the commercialisation and development of our portfolio of investment projects. Projects you could be involved with range from science, technology and energy parks to city-wide district heating networks, and large-scale low-carbon electricity generation initiatives. We have a diverse and creative team across our business who are successfully delivering award winning zero carbon solutions. We are proud of our approach to the development of our team members, from apprenticeships through to senior management. Our in-house capabilities set us apart from many of our competitors as does our track record of delivery over a 30 year period.

The Role

  • Working within the Project Development Directorate on our real estate and low carbon project asset development pipeline to create high quality investment projects for Vital Energi and our partners.
  • Reporting to the Project Development Director, and working alongside the rest of the team across our Blackburn and London offices.
  • Managing the development process using property development, planning, commercial, and project management skills and awareness to meet project programmes and business plan targets.
  • Working with external planning, legal and other professional teams to manage activity and drive progress.
  • Working with external project stakeholders, clients and occupiers to promote business and project objectives.
  • Operating in accordance with Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental Management Systems and other agreed procedures.
  • Maintaining good working relationships with colleagues, site installation teams and project teams.
  • Liaising with clients on design queries.

The Person

  • Education to a Degree level.
  • Possessing or working towards professional membership or chartered status with a relevant professional body (such as RICS / RTPI).
  • Demonstrable experience in property development including basic knowledge of planning and property legal matters and working knowledge of the planning and environmental impact assessment regime.
  • Demonstrable experience in project management or coordination.
  • A passion and interest in emerging technologies within the Energy Market and supporting the drive to Net Zero.
  • Excellent people management skills with the ability to show leadership, coach and inspire colleagues.
  • Flexible approach to managing workload with the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Commercial acumen, initiative, and an interest in business.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team.
  • Resilience in challenging situations.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft software packages including, Excel, Word, Outlook and Powerpoint.
  • Full UK driving licence.
