Would you like to be part of Vital Energi’s Strategy of Growth? Due to company growth/expansion, Vital Energi Ltd are looking for a Bid Manager to work in our head office in Blackburn. The role involves being responsible for successfully winning new work by preparing and submitting high-quality proposals on time, managing department resources and staff, and ensuring compliance with company procedures. A key objective in this role is to improve profitability and enhance commercial advantage over competitors, whilst maintaining the highest standards of quality. This role works closely with a variety of different departments and requires strong leadership and interpersonal skills to develop good working relationships. A key responsibility for this role is maintaining/improving the company’s win rate and will have a direct impact on revenue and margin expectations.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage work winning tenders to ensure proposals are produced on time and result in successful outcomes, aligning with Work Winning Policies and Procedures.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills to successfully lead work winning teams made up of Design, Energy Solutions, Project Engineering, Estimating, Commercial and Quality departments.
- Undertake comprehensive reviews and fully understand all requirements of each tender/proposal, ensuring compliance. Ensure the wider team have a good understanding of the technical, commercial and quality requirements.
- Manage and monitor design development through the pre-commencement period working alongside our technical design engineers.
- Prepare and present proposals to prospective clients, demonstrating excellent presentation skills.
- Accumulate and maintain a high standard of tender submission material, utilising the companies Bid Library.
- Undertake post tender reviews, derive lessons learnt and feedback to the relevant departmental teams.
- Maintain the integrity of Quality Management Systems and ensure all necessary documentation for proposals is accurately recorded.
- Produce reports based on recorded information relating to success rates and competitor analysis for example.
- Engage with potential clients to build relationships and work as a key member/leader of the bid team.

Experience:
- Experience working in building services sectors/Civils or Electrical/mechanical engineering.
- Several years’ experience in bid management & proposals with responsibility for large value projects or a number of lesser projects at one time.
- Technical experience in the design, procurement and construction of mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
- Awareness of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM), including risk management and mitigation strategies relevant to building services/renewable energy projects.
- Previous experience in managing and improving department processes and resources.
- Previous experience of liaising and managing inter department contribution.
