The Opportunity:
As a Senior Project Manager at Vital Energi, you’ll have the opportunity to oversee a wide variety of projects, ranging from energy solutions on behalf of London Gatwick. You will join our ambitious decarbonisation programme helping London Gatwick achieve net zero for its own emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 2030. The airport will eliminate natural gas reliance and generate its own energy, boosting energy resilience.
Who are Vital Energi?
Vital Energi is a provider of renewable energy infrastructure and systems to the public and private sectors. We are supporting hospitals, universities, new build developments, city-wide developments, and industrial and commercial clients to decarbonise their infrastructure. We essentially work in the construction industry, in a rapidly expanding market for heat and power solutions from renewable energy. As a successful turnkey engineering contractor, we design, install, operate, and maintain environmentally friendly energy generating systems and networks. Vital Energi has delivered 15% year-on-year growth for over a decade and continues to experience substantial growth opportunities which supports our vision to deliver revenues in the order of £500m alongside our current 5-year plan.
The Role:
- Manage all aspects of projects, supported by our Project Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Design team, and Planning Managers.
- Manage the planning, execution, and delivery of projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements, regulatory standards, and client objectives.
- Develop and manage construction programmes, project schedules, budgets, and risk registers.
- Review systems and methods to improve contract performance and ensure value for money.
- Work closely with clients to deliver a true partnership and build long-term relationships.
- Act as the primary interface with clients, contractors, and stakeholders, providing clear communication and regular updates on progress, risks, and outcomes.
- Engage with potential clients as part of the bid team to secure new work.
- Produce and deliver health and safety plans and ensure statutory obligations relating to health, safety, and the environment are met, ensuring that every employee, contractor, partner, and client returns home safely at the end of each day.
- Lead cross-functional teams, including engineers, contractors, and suppliers, to ensure project delivery on time and within budget and to meet customer expectations.
The Person Skills/Experience:
- Successful portfolio of projects delivered.
- Aviation experience (desirable).
- M&E experience, preferably mechanically biased.
- Proven and extensive people management experience.
- Strong familiarity with project management software.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies such as PRINCE2, Agile, or PMBOK.
- Full UK manual driving licence.
