If so, we’re looking for a Skilled Commissioning Engineer to join our specialist team where they will take direct responsibility for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of a number of Vital Energi’s plantrooms, solar farms, and boiler rooms.
Vital Energi is a leading provider of renewable energy infrastructure and systems to the public and private sectors. We are supporting Hospitals, Universities, New Build developments, Towns and Cities as well as Industrial and Commercial clients to decarbonise their buildings.
This role would suit an experienced commissioning engineer with mechanical, electrical, or controls systems experience. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and seeing energy projects come to life. The role will involve working within a number of Plant rooms, Solar Farms, Industrial plant rooms etc.
- Plan, manage, and carry out commissioning activities across solar farms, energy centres, and boiler houses.
- Develop detailed commissioning plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Conduct pre-commissioning inspections and functional testing of plant, equipment, and systems.
- Verify that all systems meet operational and performance requirements before handover.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve commissioning issues, escalating where necessary.
- Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and clients throughout the commissioning process.
- Produce accurate and comprehensive commissioning records, test data, and reports.
- Support handover to operations teams, ensuring all documentation is complete and training is provided.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies at all times.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the commissioning department.
Qualifications:
- HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Services Engineering.
- Proven experience in commissioning within the energy, utilities, or renewables sectors.
- Strong understanding of control systems, instrumentation, and electrical safety.
- Knowledge of/experience with Renewable Energy technologies such as Heat Pumps and Solar will be highly advantageous.
- Experience with PLC's.
- Full UK manual driving licence.
