Livingston James is delighted to be partnering with Vital Energi to appoint a business leader for its IDNO and ICP activity. Vital Energi specialises in the development and delivery of renewable energy systems across the UK. Their expertise spans energy generation, distribution networks and energy efficiency projects, helping organisations transition to net zero, ensuring a greener and more sustainable future for generations to come.

They are also a NERS accredited, emerging ICP in the UK’s new-connections market; with electricity, water, wastewater, fibre, heat, and gas infrastructure, all forming part of their innovative, all-utilities and energy one-provider solution. They have recently become a regulated IDNO by Ofgem. As a majority privately-owned company, they maintain agility in development and a robust financial capacity. Their focus remains on investing in asset ownership across various projects, including multi-utility, waste to energy, energy storage, and heat networks. These initiatives generate significant long-term revenue and profit, supporting their traditional design and build services for clients.

Their future-focused strategy continues to see significant growth in business turnover, whilst maintaining financial security and best practice. In 2024, Scottish clean energy-focused private equity firm Corran Capital acquired a stake in Vital Energi, bringing Scottish based pension funds to invest in sustainable energy projects across the UK.

They are looking for an experienced and strategic business leader to further develop the IDNO and ICP activity. This senior leadership role is critical in shaping the commercial strategy, driving revenue growth, and ensuring the efficient expansion of their network infrastructure. There is an expectation to deliver rapid multi-million £’s growth year on year, maximising internal and external revenue, upselling products and services and delivering tendered margins.

As the business leader, you will have full accountability for the P&L, spearhead commercial negotiations, oversee market expansion, and develop long-term partnerships with key stakeholders. You will have a strong understanding of the UK utilities sector, regulatory frameworks, and commercial drivers for success in an evolving energy landscape.

You must be able to demonstrate your ability in the following areas:

  • Developing a clear vision and business strategy while assessing long-term impacts
  • Excel at analysing complex trends, recognising patterns, and driving innovative solutions while maintaining a customer-centric approach to long-term business value.
  • Ability to inspire high performance, take calculated risks, and foster valuable professional relationships with integrity
  • Ability to challenge norms and introduce innovation to enhance business success
  • Be committed to personal growth and drive things forward with conviction.
  • Independent thinking to support with transformation / growth.

On offer is a competitive base salary with LTIP and other attractive benefits. If interested in a confidential discussion, please apply or contact our retained advisor, Sophie Randles, sophierandles@livingstonjames.com. Any applications or third party introductions to Vital Energi will be forwarded on to Livingston James for consideration.
