The Opportunity
Our planning team are a dynamic department who work with clients, internal departments and project teams to ensure our contracts are delivered on time and to budget. You will work alongside a dedicated team of professionals on projects that have a positive impact on the environment and communities. As a Planning Manager at Vital Energi you will play a crucial role in the planning and programming of key engineering activities. You will have clear objectives and be supported with training which will develop your personal and professional skills along the way!
The Role (Site Based at Gatwick Airport)
Day To Day You Will Be Involved In:
- Preparation of programmes working alongside our preconstruction and delivery teams
- Developing and maintaining project plans utilising dedicated project management software throughout the complete project life cycle
- Regular monitoring and updating of programmes to ensure tasks are completed on time, correctly resourced and within budget whilst identifying and reporting any deviations to the project team
- Fulfilling contractual obligations including issuing of programmes, recording progress and tracking variations / compensation events
- Producing resource and cost loaded programmes
- Identifying and assessing project risks including potential delays, costs and other challenges, whilst contributing to mitigation strategies
- Creating short term lookaheads and programme narratives to provide project teams with a focus on key areas/activities
- Maintaining accurate project documentation, including project plans, progress packs, meeting minutes and other relevant documents, always ensuring proper document version control
- Holding client meetings and workshops to discuss and review ongoing contracts
From Time To Time You May Be Required To:
- Support various business units nationally with occasional travel to office locations and other sites as appropriate
Key Responsibilities:
- Reporting of progress on portfolio of projects to the Head of Planning
- Day to day management of planning team members
- Attending client programme and progress meetings as required
The Person Skills/Experience:
- Excellent knowledge of construction detail and the design, procurement, installation and commissioning sequences of M&E Services
- Excellent understanding of planning and scheduling techniques
- Understanding of project lifecycles from concept to handover including operation and maintenance.
- Proficiency in project management software package Oracle Primavera P6 is essential
- Application of resources and costs within Oracle Primavera P6
- Working knowledge of Asta Powerproject desirable but not essential.
- Relevant contractual knowledge including use of standard forms of NEC and JCT contracts.
- Recognised qualification in a construction related field

- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft software packages including, Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
Security Requirements:
- DBS Check
- Last 5 years HMRC tax history
- Gatwick Airport security process to be undertaken
