Overview
Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Contracts Manager to strengthen our Operations & Maintenance team in Scotland.
Reporting directly to the Regional Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of operation and maintenance activities across your contracts. This role will involve the development and management of contracts under your control, ensuring that all contractual requirements, along with Company Policies, Roles and Responsibilities, are clearly communicated, understood, and consistently applied by all members of your team.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operation and maintenance activities, ensuring all works are delivered in line with contractual requirements.
- Review, evaluate, and continuously improve overall engineering operations.
- Manage scheduling, engineering delivery, and service performance.
- Develop and manage contracts throughout their lifecycle.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, including attending client meetings and providing regular performance reports against contractual KPIs.
- Manage key contractor and supplier relationships, chairing or attending regular meetings and ensuring accurate and timely reporting to clients.
- Monitor and report on contract performance, producing and maintaining KPI reports and escalating any performance issues to relevant stakeholders, while supporting resolution and client communications.
- Support contractual compliance across the wider business by clearly communicating contractual obligations and requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve business processes and develop implementation plans to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead, manage, mentor, and coach a team of engineers, ensuring regular one-to-one meetings and formal performance reviews are completed.
- Take responsibility for contract budget management, ensuring all contracts are delivered within agreed financial targets throughout their lifecycle.
- Ensure full compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and corporate requirements.
- Work closely with planning teams to ensure all works are scheduled and delivered in accordance with contractual commitments.
- Proactively propose improvements to systems, procedures, and service delivery, incorporating customer feedback where appropriate.
The Person
- Proven experience in the operation and maintenance of Energy Centres and utility plants, including CHP systems, air and water source heat pumps, steam and industrial hot water boilers, solar PV, compressed air, refrigeration, water treatment, district heating networks, heat interface units, and associated ancillary equipment.
- Strong technical expertise across Energy Centre and utility plant systems, including CHP, heat pumps, gas engines, generators, steam boilers, and district heating networks.
- Working knowledge of ESCO environments (desirable).
- Electrical or mechanical qualifications, or equivalent time-served experience (NVQ, HNC, or equivalent).
- Minimum two years’ contract management experience within construction, facilities management, ESCO, energy, or a related sector (desirable).
- Demonstrated experience in safety management and leadership.
