Would you like to be part of Vital Energi's Strategy of Growth? If so, we are currently recruiting a Contracts Manager to work on sites across London. The role will include being responsible for the delivery of contracts safely, on programme, on budget to the client and Vital Energi standards. Development of client relationships, liaison with sub-contractors and suppliers of materials or services to Vital Energi. The management and supervision of a project installation team and the delegating of tasks accordingly.

Key Duties:

  • Oversee main project delivery aspect of significant projects
  • Attend pre-contract meetings in conjunction with senior commercial staff
  • Understand the contract and client requirements for performance and delivery of the projects
  • Manage all aspects of the contract(s) with the aid of Project Engineers, Quantity Surveyors and Planning Manager
  • Approve and maintain construction programmes.
  • Approve and maintain inspection and test plans, commissioning programmes
  • Ensure O&M manuals are produced and issued in accordance with the project requirements
  • Ensure Vital Energi QA procedures are followed, projects are defect free and successfully completed
  • Produce health and safety plans with overall responsibility for site health and safety
  • Manage the project team in ensuring that project viability is maintained
  • Secure labour and sub-contractors for the project
  • Attend site meetings and produce contract status reports
  • Review systems and methods when required to improve contract performance
  • Work closely with the client to further develop relationships and promote the company
  • Engage with potential clients to build relationships and work as a key member of a bid team.
  • Promote and comply with the Company’s policies on equality and health and safety both in the delivery of service and the treatment of others.

Education:

  • HND or degree qualification in an Engineering subject is essential
  • Chartered Engineering status preferred

Qualifications:

  • Health and Safety Qualification such as SMSTS, Nebosh etc. desirable.

Knowledge:

  • Several years experience as a Project Manager, Senior Project Manager or Contracts Manager controlling a large value project or a number of lesser projects at one time.
  • Experience of undertaking projects as the Principal Contractor
  • A proven track record of a similar role within a related engineering environment

  • Excellent financial awareness and understanding of the need to adhere to strict timetables to maximise profits and have the ability to identify potential problems and resolve them at an early stage.
  • A flexible approach to working practices and hours
  • Exceptional organisational skills
  • Good Oral and Written Communication Skills
  • A high level of confidentiality, tact and diplomacy
  • Good IT Skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Confident manner, with ability to work to deadlines, whilst remaining focused
  • A full UK driving licence
