The Company: Vital Energi is a leading provider of renewable energy infrastructure and systems to the public and private sectors. We are supporting hospitals, universities, new build developments, towns and cities as well as industrial and commercial clients to decarbonise their buildings. We have and continue to work on ground-breaking projects throughout the UK which are supporting the UK's Net Zero targets, such as the recently announced £1 billion low-carbon infrastructure project for Westminster. With plans to double our headcount over the coming years, supported by offices opening in new locations across the country and our strong investment pipeline, coupled with our expansion into new markets such as industrial power generation with our very own Energy-from-Waste facility, there is no better time to join the family here at Vital Energi.
About the Role: Reporting to the Principal Engineer, you'll carry out a wide range of electrical design tasks across industrial, commercial, and public sector projects. This includes concept and detailed design during pre-construction and tender stages, reviewing third-party drawings/specs, and contributing to PCSAs and investment-grade proposals. You'll be part of a team of electrical engineers, responsible for designing electrical plant layouts, switchrooms, substations, cable and equipment sizing, lighting and containment systems, and general building services. HV design experience is a plus. In addition, you'll manage and support junior engineers, assigning tasks, reviewing work, and ensuring project deliverables are met on time and within programme.
Key Duties:

- Responsible for the timely execution of electrical design deliverables on tender/bid projects.
- Day-to-day decision making on tenders and projects.
- Provides advice to internal stakeholders and clients.
- Takes a holistic view in the selection and application of engineering concepts and solutions.
- Represent Vital Energi at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractor teams.
- Ensure engineering calculations and drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards.
- Survey and report on existing electrical installations.
- Work within multi-disciplinary work winning teams to deliver technically compliant tenders.
- Lead on the coordination of engineering services.
- Engage equipment vendor supply chain to ensure electrical equipment selections are valid technically, specification compliant, value for money and available within programme.
- Have an awareness of cost implications within design.
- Assist with effectively dealing with design issues and minimising their impact.
- Ability to design systems in the form of calculations, equipment selection and process operation.
- Liaising with external designers, customers and Vital Energi's in-house project teams.
- Compliance with CDM requirements and our in-house design processes.
- Ability to design systems in the form of schematics, calculations, equipment selection, detailed drawings and provide inputs for control operating strategies.
- Ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice with company procedures.
Skills/Experience: The successful candidates will ideally be qualified at degree level or similar (HNC/HND), with a minimum of circa 3 to 5 years relevant experience working for a consultancy or a contractor. The individuals will have:
