Would you like to be part of Vital Energi's Strategy of Growth? If so, we're looking for a talented Commercial Executive to join our dynamic team at our Head Office in Blackburn.
The role:
Due to Vital Energi's continued growth, we require a Commercial Executive to assist with the financial management of O&M Contracts, in partnership with the Contracts Managers and/or Engineers and the wider Commercial Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the senior members of the commercial team on numerous projects with the procurement, sub-contractor accounts and variation accounts, as well as being responsible for the commercial management of your own contracts and also support with the transition to 4PS.

We have and continue to work on ground-breaking projects throughout the UK which are supporting the UK's Net Zero targets, such as the recently announced £1 billion low-carbon infrastructure project for Westminster. With plans to double our headcount over the coming years, supported by offices opening in new locations across the country and our strong investment pipeline, coupled with our expansion into new markets such as industrial power generation with our very own Energy-from-Waste facility, there is no better time to join the family here at Vital Energi.
A few key responsibilities:
- Vet contract documentation on receipt from Client to ensure compatibility with the Company's Tender and subsequent negotiations.
- Prepare and issue enquiries for Plant, Materials and Sub-Contract packages.
- Vet quotations commercially and negotiate price and terms with vendors.
- Issue resultant Purchase Orders.
- Prepare and submit Applications for Payment and/or Invoices, obtain Payment Certificates / Authorisation and progress Client Payments in accordance with contractual provisions.
- Measure, submit and agree Variations and/or Compensation Events in accordance with contractual provisions.
- Monitor on-site record keeping (Eagle Records / Timesheets).
- Review Eagle / Job Logic or equivalent system to ensure that we claim all reactive work and call outs.
- Prepare and submit monthly Cost Value Reconciliations and Cash/Spend Profiles (Trading Forecast).
- Attend Contract Review Meetings.
- Authorisation and coding of Suppliers and Sub-Contractors Invoices and submission to Finance for payment.
- Measure, certify and agree Sub-Contractors interim valuations.
- Prepare and issue contractual notices to Sub-Contractors.
- Assist the Finance Department in securing payment of Invoices and/or Applications for Payment, chase and escalate any debt.
- Preparation of monthly Commercial Reports and CVR Summary working with the Finance Team.
- Management of annual indexation in accordance with contractual provisions.
- Day to Day admin support to Head of Commercial / Commercial Director and wider Commercial Services team as directed.
- Support with system transformation and launch of 4PS.
Education & Experience:
- 5 GCSE passes (grade A to C) including Maths and English (or equivalent).
- Minimum qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent Quantity Surveying Degree or other related degree (or equivalent on the job experience).
- Full UK Driving License.
Knowledge:
- Good commercial awareness.
- Provide assistance to clients, contractors or work colleagues.
- Carry out other duties consistent with the nature, responsibilities and seniority of your post.
- Ability to respond promptly and efficiently to contract adjustments and alterations.
- Ability to effectively prioritise and carry out tasks in a high pressure environment.
