As our business continues to grow globally, we are seeking a talented and commercially minded Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified solicitor with approximately 3 years' post-qualification experience to develop a broad and rewarding in-house career.
This is a two-year fixed term contract, reporting to the Head of HR and Legal, and working with an experienced paralegal, you will provide practical, highly commercial legal support to stakeholders across Vitaflo's global operations.
The role offers exposure to a wide range of legal matters including commercial contracts, intellectual property, data protection, compliance, advisory work and legal operations.
You will work closely with colleagues across the business and with external legal advisers in multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Contracts
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including:
- Distribution agreements
- Supply and manufacturing agreements
- Logistics and warehousing contracts
- Confidentiality agreements
- Consultancy and service agreements
- Software and technology contracts
- Advise stakeholders on contractual risks and appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Support the development and maintenance of contract templates.
- Intellectual Property
- Assist with the management and protection of the Vitaflo intellectual property portfolio.
- Support trademark, patent and copyright matters in conjunction with external advisers.
- Advise on IPR-related risks and mitigation in marketing materials, product launches, etc.
- Assist with the investigation of potential IP infringements.
- Data Protection and Digital/AI
- Provide advice on UK GDPR, EU GDPR and wider privacy requirements.
- Support data processing assessments, supplier reviews and data sharing arrangements.
- Assist with privacy incident management and related investigations.
- Advise on digital and technology projects across the business, including championing the safe and responsible use of AI.
- Compliance
- Support the business in understanding legal requirements relevant to specialised nutrition products.
- Assist with compliance programmes, policies and training.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the business.
- Support investigations and compliance reviews where required.
- Legal operations
- Act as a first point of contact for routine legal queries from internal stakeholders
- Maintain legal databases and corporate governance documentation.
- Coordinate with external counsel in the UK and internationally.
- Support on strategic legal matters and cross-functional projects.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
- Approximately 3 years' PQE.
- Strong grounding in commercial contract drafting and negotiation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to provide practical, business-focused legal advice.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence working with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and competing priorities.
Desirable
- Experience gained in a leading private practice firm and/or an in-house legal team.
- Experience of intellectual property matters.
- Experience in the healthcare or pharma sector.
